It is unfortunate but true that much of our public water is deliberately contaminated with fluoride, presumably to avoid tooth decay.

Fluoride enters your body through bathing and drinking. Therefore you need to filter the entire water supply entering your house. This will also help you avoid fluoride contamination in your vegetable garden and clothes.

A typical municipal water - before filtration - contains 0.92 mg/L of fluoride. After running through Fluoride Max it contains only 0.07mg/L of fluoride. This is a 92% reduction.

Fluoride Max is rated to be effective for 36,000 gallons. You can calculate your family’s water consumption based on the average water consumption per person being 80-100 gallons per day. The filter medium will need to be changed every three and a half months in a 4 person family. For the longest use please plumb the filter so it bypasses your sprinklers, garden hoses, and washing machine. We will test your water for free, once you have purchased our filter in order to make it easer for you to gauge when to replenish your filter medium.

One cubic foot of replacement Hydroxyapatite media costs less than $300. You should replace the media according to your calculations.




The fluoride filter comes with a pre-filter (see blue filter on picture) that is designed to trap sediment and dirt. This 20 inch (0.5m) long filter traps anything smaller than 5 microns and extends the life of your filter.

Fluoride Max utilizes high grade Hydroxyapatite / Bone Char media – a high grade media which is considered to significantly outperform "activated alumina" – the other main way to remove fluoride.

Fluoride Max is a substantial size filter. It comes in a large 4 foot (1.2m) by 8 inches (20cm) diameter tank and contains 1ft3 (28317cm³) Hydroxyapatite media.




Ways to Remove Fluoride From Water

  • Don't take fluoride supplements.
  • Read labels on bottled beverages.
    Unless they are made using distilled or reverse-osmosis water, they are probably made with fluoridated public water.
  • Consider using unfluoridated toothpaste / toothpowder.
  • Avoid drinking black or red tea.
    They come from two different types of plants, but both leaves naturally contain high amounts of fluorine.
  • Be wary of tinned fish and canned food items.
    Fluoride may be used as a preservative.
  • Avoid black or red rock salt or items containing black or red rock salt.
  • Avoid using chewing tobacco.
  • Avoid long term use of medication that contains fluorine.
    Certain antidepressants and medications for osteoporosis contain fluorine.
